The image above was taken in Duluth MN at around 5:13 in the morning. Why the exact time? Well to get the watercolor sunrise shown above you have to get up and get out before the sun does! My alarm wakes me from my slumber around 4:30AM. I was up and out the door by 4:45. I had strolled the pier before so I knew this is where I wanted to watch the sun come up! This brings me to my first landscape photography tip- RESEARCH!
Above is what the scene looked like! You can see the puddle in the lower left and the lighthouse near the middle to the left. I believe it is very important to explore all parts of your landscape photography composition when shooting. In the age of digital cameras the amount of images we have available to take is incredibly high, why not explore all the different angles and get the most interesting one to you!
